This Pontiac is the second Pontiac purchased in my lifetime.
This is supposed to be my baby.
Like the '67, this needs finished.
The disassembly was 9 years ago.
In 2004, a friend turned me on to CarsInBarns.com.
Once, I saw that site, I realized I'm guilty.
Yes, car sitting rusting, me saying "I'm gonna restore that someday..."
It changed my outlook going to that site.
2000 was the last year I drove this cool Pontiac convertible.
The winter of 2008-2009 was rough on my storage area.
I had a major roof leak occur, and much to my dismay,
the trunk lid of this convertible had a direct and steady drip landing on it.
Just great!
When I discovered the roof leak looking in the storage for something else I knew I had to fix the leak,
divert the leak or move the car.
Option 3 was done. Needless to say at this point,
my baby needs some serious love this spring and summer.
EXTERIOR AND BODY OF THIS PROJECT LEMANS:
Right now, the body is gently resting on the close to being all redone frame.
The left quarter is filler-infested from an old collision of some kind.
Most of the flooring in this car is still solid original.
I patched small holes making the pieces look like the original flooring patterns.
Small rust spots on each door skin has been cut out.
Inner wheel arches are 90% still there from original!
INTERIOR OF THIS PROJECT LEMANS:
All new in boxes, awaiting installation!
CHASSIS OF THIS PROJECT LEMANS:
The frame was the first part of the restoration done.
Stripped with a needle scaler, primered and painted.
Chassis parts are all checked, painted and installed.
I changed the rear differential to one from a '67 GTO,
because it was internally rusted badly from sitting for eons.
I have a 1967 LeMans 326 to power this project.
The original engine was out to repaint years ago, and was stolen.
For the transmission, I replaced the Powerglide with a turbo 350.
A turbo 400 would not fit!
Price listed is not negotiable. You can visit the
NADA guides website for the current value of this classic convertible.
Not accessible to photograph at this time (5/2/2009).This very low-mileage car is sold in as-is condition!
